Frank Cadogan Cowper, 38 Barrow Hill Road, St. John's Wood, to his mother
He has been to the
Academy varnishing day, the
St. Agnes is a success,
Sargent and
Poynter have nominated it for purchase by the Chantrey Bequest. Unfortunately it has already been purchased by Mr. Fry, who will have to agree to sell it. Fry is in Venice, but the matter must be sealed. He hopes it doesn't go to the Chantrey as he thinks he can do better.
He has been invited to the Academy Club dinner by
Crofts, a great compliment.
Also at the Academy,
Eden has been well placed, Smith has his on the line, but in a corner.
Board, who paints like Cowper and Eden, has two grat pictures, but badly placed.
Turnbull was rejected, "poor little chap".
