Provenance
The majority of the business of the General Assembly is recorded in its minute books. However, notices relating to the business transacted at Assembly were printed and mailed to members from the earliest days of the Academy. Few of these papers survive (a good example being RAA/GA/17/1), but those that do have been incorporated here. [It is to be expected that further orphaned documents will be swept into this series as the arrangement of the corporate archive matures, therefore the early part of this series should be regarded as a work in progress] With the advent of the Secretary scrapbooks in the 1830s notices to members became an important part of the whole and are distributed within various of these scrapbooks in RAA/SEC/22/12. Upon the abandonment of scrapbook archiving in 2009 a decision was taken to preserve General Assembly papers as a distinct series in RAA/GA/17.
