More than a mere account book this volume details all works undertaken by Richmond during this period, the titles of all works are given, sometimes with later notes added as to the place of their creation, character of the sitter etc. The notes to the original text appear to have been added at more than two stages, in the main they are dated either 1860 or 1884; an account of his first trip to France is included; the accounting element of the book records interest on the sum loaned to Richmond by
Samuel Palmer so that he and
Julia Tatham could marry in 1831; also at this point he writes a brief note on his finances between 1831 and 1837 at which point he stopped work and went to Rome.
