If any one my dear Madam at some future period shou’d
take it into their heads to amuse themselves with writing
the history of my life there is no one to whom they cou’d apply for
materials with so much advantage as yourself; the bearer of
this letter Mr Lawrence, will probably have the honour of de-
-livering into your hands two proofs of this assertion, more
than a year since he purposed going to London which accasin’d
my giving him a letter, he is now again preparing for his
journey (his first intention having been laid aside) and be-
-hold I am writing another letter; for I cou’d not forgive my-
self if I did not endeavour to procure him the singular
advantage and happiness of your acquaintance; and I am
greatly mistaken if you do not find yourself highly grati-
-fied with the modesty, good sense and superior genius wch
you will discover in his Character. He is an Artist
