"I have sent a picture for the approbation of His Majesty, in the hope of receiving, through it, my diploma. In the course of the summer (with permission of the Council) I shall exchange the present picture for a subject more within the limits of my studies; trusting to my earnest endeavours for producing something more acceptable to the Royal Academy."
