Content Description
Wright wishes to assure the Society of Artists that he intends to contribute, as far as he can, to the exhibition: his assistance will be small indeed, however, as he has only been able to work for four out of the previous twelve months. He has only one finished work: a captive in a dungeon; and one upon the stocks: an iron forge viewed from without. This latter he will finish in time if he keeps tolerably well. As he will have only two works in the exhibition, he cautions them not to omit any, as it gives a picture an insignificant air. He concludes by insisting that the pictures are to be marked for sale in the catalogue, otherwise it is a tacit acknowledgment that they are not to be sold.
