He hopes to become an Associate member of the Royal Academy and has submitted three works to this year's exhibition. He has spoken to
Phillip King,
James Fitton and
William Scott, all of whom were encouraging. He sent to the exhibition before joining the Tate, and now he has left it. Also he did some service to the Academy while at the Tate, mentioning the Turner exhibition of 1974 and his resolution to the Chantrey Bequest, which was to allow the RA complete control over acquisitions.
