Extracts from three letters by Johnson.
To Mrs Lucy Porter, 20 Nov 1777, sending her a cast from Nolleken's clay bust, he will pay for carriage, would like her opinion on it, but knows not where she shall put it.
To [Mrs Lucy Porter], 19 Feb 1778, saying that her negative opinion on the bust is shared by
Mrs Thrale,
Miss Reynolds and
Mrs. Garrick. It was shown to honour the artist. He thinks clay busts cost 20gs, but casts from them a guinea or two.
To Mrs. Thrale, 20 Aug 1783, he sat to Mrs Reynolds (sister of Sir Joshua) for three hours, on possibly the tenth occasion, with total patience.
