He raises that no mention of size is made in the proposals. The present system harms the painter of small pictures and he sees Spielmann's proposal as doing nothing to help. He feels large works are created only so as to make an impression for the three months of the exhibition. But he signs Spielmann's proposal because it will help the selecting committee and might put a stop to the Academicians' "rage for display."
