Historical Background
A Committee was appointed by Council on 2 July 1914 to consider the co-operation of the Royal Academy with the Board of Education in the formation of a final school of fine art. It reported in February 1915 and was composed of the President, Sir Edward Poynter, Bt., the Keeper, Andrew C. Gow, the Treasurer, Sir Aston Webb, Sir Thomas Brock, Arthur Stockdale Cope, Solomon J. Solomon and Reginald Blomfield. A further [Schools'] Committee was formed by order of the Council , 1 April 1918. It reported in 1918.
