The greater part of this collection consists of letters to Sir George Clausen, RA, (CL/1) written between 1890 and 1940, the majority dating from the 1920s. The archive also contains Clausen's pocket diaries (CL/4), some draft lectures written by Clausen (CL/2) and personal accounts. The letters, diaries and accounts provide an effective impression of Clausen's professional life during this period.
Associated Material
A large quantity of sketchbooks, drawings and watercolours, donated at the same time as the archive, are held within the works on paper collection at the Royal Academy.
