General Note
The title-page is hand-written with two engravings pasted on the sheet. The other 175 engravings within the volume are all cut up, rearranged and mounted in one volume, 5 engravings to a page. The engravings appear to have been excised from a printed work in three volumes, A select collection of drawings from curious antique gems : most of them in the possession of the nobility and gentry of this kingdom. Etched after the manner of Rembrandt, by T. Worlidge, painter which was printed in London by Dryden Leach, for M. Worlidge, Great Queen-Street, Lincoln's-Inn-Fields; and M. Wicksteed, seal-engraver at Bath MDCCLXVIII. [1768].
Provenance
The front paste-down carries the armorial bookplate of Algernon Percy, 2nd Baron Lovaine of Alnwick, cr Earl of Beverly 1790 (1750 -1830), with the motto 'Esperance en Dieu' and engraver's name 'Longmate fc'.
