Anonymously abridged, with minor additions, from J. Dart's The history and antiquities of the Cathedral Church of Canterbury (1726) and F. Drake's Eboracum (1736).

Many plates of Canterbury are signed as engraved by James Cole. Some showing York are signed by draughtsmen, John Haynes, P. Harrison, Gul. Kent, or by engravers, J. Harris, J. Basire, C. du Bosc, G. Vertue or W.H. Toms.
