Summary Note
The Essay takes the form of three Letters. In the second the author writes about depictions of the death of Abel, Abraham's offering of his son Isaac, Job, Susanna, the nativity of Christ, the wise men at Bethlehem, the baptism of Christ and the Holy Ghost as a dove, the Last Supper, St. John, Christ with the doctors, the lame man cured by Peter and John, the Resurrection, the Last Judgement. In the third he writes of depictions of Bucephalus, Hector, Cleopatra, Ganymede, Aesop.
