Summary Note
The work describes an example of one of the striking types of Roman architecture, the triumphal arch - in this case the arch built at Benevento ca. 114 A.D. as a monument to the emperor Trajan's military victories.
The first plate shows a view of the arch; the rest, details of the bas-reliefs.
