Summary Note

A satire in verse on Lord George Sackville (1716-1785), who as Secretary of State for America in Lord North's cabinet was widely held to be responsible for Britain's loss of its American colonies. 'M-nden' refers to the Battle of Minden (1 August 1759) in which Sackville's conduct had led to his court martial the following year. L-d M-f-d is William Murray, 1st earl of Mansfield (1705-1793).
