Summary Note
The publication-date of 1763 is carried by the title page, but the 'Extrait Des Registres des délibérations' carries the date of 1766. The work appears to have been published in parts.
The added engraved title reads: 'Les Élevations, Coupes Et Profils Entiers De La Basilique De St. Pierre Du Vatican A Rome, Pour Servir de 1ere. The portrait shows 'Gab. Pi. Martin Dumont'. Both sequences of numbered plates shows plans, elevations and architectural details of St. Peter's and its piazza. The unnumbered plates show details of the church, the towers of S. Agnese, scale comparisons of St. Peter's and other churches, and the last two show a Parc and Bosquet planted according to the plan of St Peter's. The architects whose work is shown are indicated in the signatures or captions of many plates - Borromini, Bernin, Michel-Ange, Charles Maderne, Vignole and De Zzubail (i.e. Zabaglia?).
