Responsibility Note
Most of the numbered plates are unsigned, but a few are signed as engraved by Magdalena Bouchard (Vol. I: 2, 5, 9, 19, 28, 34, 44, 67, 69, 84, 90; Vol. II: 15, 62). Each volume has a dedication and a portrait of the dedicatee, apart from Volumes V and VII. The portraits in Volumes I and III are unsigned; that in Volume II is signed as engraved by Ignazio Benedetti; that in Volume IV, as engraved by Ant. Fiori; that in Volume VI, as drawn by Marc. de Antoniis and engraved by Ang. Campanella . In Volume I the unnumbered, double, folding plate is signed as engraved by Andrea de Rossi.
The first volume is dedicated by the publishers, Joannes Bouchard et Joannes Josephus Gravier, to Pope Clement XIV; the second, to Cardinal Bernis; the third, to Cardinal Zelada; the fourth, to Cardinal Giraud. The sixth volume is dedicated - by the author, Nicolaus Martelli - to Cardinal Boncompagni.

Summary Note
The title-pages of Volumes II-VII state that they are by 'Nicolao Martellio'; those of Volumes VI-VII substitute the name Constantinus Sabbati for Liberatus Sabbati. The volumes were published in 1772, 1774, 1775, 1776, 1778, 1780, and 1784. A final volume (vol. VIII) appeared in 1793.
The unnumbered double plate in Volume I shows a garden behind the fountain erected by Paul V in Trastevere (the Acqua Paola or Fontanone). The plates are captioned in Latin, usually with Italian and French names added. The numbered plates and title page vignettes are coloured by hand. The unnumbered, double, folded plate of Volume I is printed in green.
