Summary Note
The title-plate carries the publication-date of 1640; plates carry the dates of 1638, 1639, 1640. The imprint was originally simply 'Cum privilegio Regis'. In a second issue the words 'London Printed & sould by P. Stent without Newgat &tc' were added beneath this. In this third issue the words 'P. Stent' have been erased and replaced by 'I. Overton.' According to the British Book Trades Index John Overton traded from 1665 to 1707, and in 1669 settled in a shop just outside Newgate. A further five issues are described by R. Pennington.
