No publication-date is carried by any of the plates; some of the preliminary drawings carry the date of 1650.
This drawing manual consists entirely of plates. They show heads, faces, parts of faces, hands, arms, legs, feet; half-length figures and busts; sitting and standing vagabonds, soldiers, females in classical dress, monks and hermits; soldiers, farmers, other genre figures; various figures.
Bloemaert's preparatory drawings (mirror image) are preserved in Cambridge at the Fitzwilliam Museum.
