Summary Note
This is the true second edition. Bowyer had published the first edition in 1732 and a second issue of the first edition, describing itself as 'The Second Edition', in 1736. The present edition was published, conveniently and affordably, in 21 weekly parts between 27 May and 21 October 1738. (The third edition was published in 1753.)
