Summary Note

In his introductory note the editor, William Stirling-Maxwell, states that here he joins a facsimile of A.F. Doni's Sopra L'Effigie (1550) with 'a reduced copy of the portrait' of Holy Roman Emperor Charles V originally engraved in 1550 by Enea Vico.

The note also states that 'the impression consists of fifty copies'.

Provenance

On the verso of the front loose endpaper is pasted a note inscribed in ink, 'Offered to the Library of the Royal Academy by the Editor William Stirling Maxwell London. April 28th. 1869.'
