Summary Note
One of the plates is dated 1855. A copy sold at Christie's South Kensington on 12 July 2000 (sale 8829, lot 313) was assigned a publication date of '1857', probably on the basis of the date suggested for the V&A copy listed on COPAC.
Provenance
The verso of the front free-endpaper is inscribed in pencil, 'S: A: H', i.e. S.A. Hart, Librarian of the Royal Academy 1864-81. Presented by the author in 1870 (see 'Librarian's Report for the Year 1870', RA Annual Report, Appendix No. 6, p. 30).
