General Note
This copy is one of a hundred copies privately printed. 'These photographic copies were made for me from the original prints at Florence [in the Uffizi Gallery] by Signor Pietro Corrado Smorti, and such retouching as the stones required was executed with great skill and fidelity by the late Signor Ferdinando Lasinio' as stated at the end of the Preface by Stirling Maxwell.
Provenance
On the verso of the half-title is the motto and arms of Stirling Maxwell over which he has inscribed in black ink, 'Presented / to / The Library of / The Royal Academy / by the Editor / William Stirling Marshall / London / Augt 7th / 1877.'
