Most plates are not signed with the name of the source-artist, but five are signed or captioned as by or after Romney, and one as from a medal by Thomas Hayley. All are signed or captioned with the name of the engraver - Caroline Watson, W. Haines, Blake, A. Raimbach, Meadows, Robert Cooper. The plate after a medal by Thomas Hayley is signed as drawn by Maria Denman and engraved by Caroline Watson.
Each plate carries the publisher's imprint of Thomas Payne and the date (Apr. 14 1809).
The work is dedicated by W. Hayley to Daniel Braithwaite.

Summary Note
This the first biography of Romney was written by one of his closest friends. He and Hayley had met in 1776; and one of Hayley's first publications had been his Epistle on Painting, Addressed to George Romney (1778). In 1830 Romney's son brought out a more detailed biography of his father.
