Summary Note
Suetonius's De Vita Caesarum was probably written in the early 2nd century. It consists of anecdotal biographies of Julius Caesar (d. 44 B.C.), Octavius Augustus, Tiberius, Caius Caligula, Claudius, Nero, Galba, Otho, Vitellius, Vespasian, Titus and Domitian (d. 96). Here the translation of each biography is followed by a short historical essay.
