This work was issued unbound in three parts, in portfolios. Each portfolio contains a printed leaf of contents, not intended to be preserved in the final bound volume; this set remains unbound, still in portfolios. Part I (1907) contains a title-page and Preface by the authors as well as the list of prints in this part; in addition it contains a duplicate of plate LXXVI. Part II (1907) contains the list of prints and a duplicate of print LXV. Part III (1908) contains preliminary pages intended for the bound volume (half-title and title-page) as well as letterpress text (cumulative List of Plates, Historical Notice [p. 1-3], General Description [p. 4-6], Description of Plates [p. 7-14]) as well as the list of plates in this the third portfolio - in this case there is a missing plate (LXI). The verso of the title-page in Part III has the printer information: Photolithography and letterpress by George Waterston & Sons, Edinburgh; Collotypes by Zinco-Collotype Co. Ltd., Edinburgh.
