Landscape painter, wood-engraver and etcher, also involved in photomechanical printmaking. Son of the landscape painter Henry Dawson (1811–1878). With his brother Charles Dawson he was the proprietor of the Typographic Etching Company, later the Typographic Etching and Engraving Company.
