Print-maker and photographer. Born in Vienna. Member of the Photographic Society of Great Britain (Royal Photographic Society) 1870. He was employed by the British Musem to make photographs of prints and drawings in other British collections, and also to have supplied photos of works in the BM itself. His son Charles J. Praetorius exhibited at The Royal Academy 1888 -1914.
