Brother of book-binder Charles Lewis (1786-1836) and landscape-painter George Robert Lewis (1782-1871); father of painter John Frederick Lewis (1804-76), engraver Charles George Lewis (1808-80) and painter Frederick Christian Lewis, the younger (1813-75).
