Henry Mayhew (1812 - 1887)

Henry Mayhew (1812-1887) was a British journalist, sociologist and a founder of the magazine Punch. He collaborated with his brother Augustus Mayhew (1826-1875) on the production of a number of plays, fairy tales and novels including The Greatest Plague of Life: or The Adventures of a Lady In Search of a Good Servant (London: David Bogue, 1847?). He also founded a number of periodicals and wrote London Labour and London Poor, which influenced Charles Dickens and other Victorian writers.
