Sculptor and painter, Leopold “Leo” Solomon was born in Cardiff, but brought up in Swansea where he studied at the Swansea Art College. In 1947 he became master-in-charge of the Barrow School of Art and was appointed principle of Rochdale College of ARt in 1953.
His bronze bust of Lowry was included in the Royal Academy Summer Exhibiton in 1967 from which it was purchased and gifted to the Royal Academy.
