John Jackson RA (1778 - 1831)
RA Collection: Art
A pencil sketch of a cottage with two figures in front of the building in the middle ground. The cottage is set within a garden enclosed by a wall or fence. In the foreground are trees and bushes.
A letter in the Royal Academy Archive indicates that this drawing, along with a portrait sketch of the artist John Jackson (09/1964), was sent by Richard Lane to Archibald Keightley, the executor of Sir Thomas Lawrence, for his "autograph book". Lane was a talented engraver who reproduced various paintings by Lawrence, including 'Red Riding Hood' which earned him election as an associate-engraver of the Royal Academy.
