Content Description
Spencer is sorry that he had been so long answering Dugdale's letter. It was kind of Dugdale to suggest his name going on the selection list, but he was sorry that he could not "belong to or seek election to anything." Spencer concludes by expressing his sincere appreciation and thanks.
The letter is accompanied by a forwarding letter from Dugdale (signing himself T. C. D.), 58 Glebe Place, Chelsea, S.W.3., to
[W. R. M.] Lamb, stating that he was enclosing Spencer's letter for the next meeting. Dugdale has underlined the word "Mr" in Spencer's address to him as "[d]ear
Mr Spencer" and added the following note: "[t]he underlining is mine. T.C.D." The Secretary has added the date 1944 to both letters.
Physical Characteristics
As is usual with Spencer, the letter is written in pencil. Both letters are stapled together.
