Content Description
Draft letter on behalf of the President and Council, relating to a memorial received by them in June and signed by many distinguished persons requesting that the RA's annual exhibition should be opened in the evening "for the convenience of those whose occupations may prevent their visiting the exhibition during the day" ["working classes" deleted]: following consideration the President and Council had decided to recommend to the General Assembly that the memorial should be acceded to, but they now descibed some of the issues involved and referred the proposal to the Lords Commissioners of HM Treasury for their sanction.
