The frontispiece is unsigned. But according to the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography it shows a portrait 'bust by Henry Behnes, drawn by Henry Corbould, engraved by Robert Graves.'
The printer's name is repeated in the colophon.

The text discusses not only the sculpture but also the coinage of the ancient Greeks, and their relation to the sculpture of the Egyptians, Macedonians and Persians.

This work was posthumously published by one of Christie's sons, in a run of fifty copies for private circulation. It had been written to serve as an introduction to the second volume of the Society of Dilettanti's Specimens of Ancient Sculpture; but in the event that volume appeared in 1835 with an introduction by another hand.
