Sculptor, especially of portrait busts. Worked in London, where he exhibited with the Royal Academy and the Society of Artists; in 1834 moved to Rome. At some time he changed his surname to Burlowe. Brother of sculptor William Behnes (1791/7-1864). Died in the Rome cholera epidemic of 1837.
