R.V. Pitchforth RA (1895 - 1982)
RA Collection: Art
Ramsgate Habour was a favoured subject of Pitchforth's. This watercolour depicts the view from the harbour to the town with a boat and part of the sea wall in the foreground and a moored boat and the town in the background. Pitchforth produced watercolour scenes like this one by making annotated drawings on the spot and then painting the composition back in his studio or hotel room.
