He will send casts of brass patterns as soon as possible; "little [Charles] Roberts" visits too often, bothering Sir Joshua and sketching in the gallery, which is always full of visitors; he provides a vivid sketch of Roberts, a fellow scholar at the Academy; the Duchess of Cumberland has sat to Sir Joshua, the Duke of Cumberland came with her; he saw Mrs. Abington play "Miss Notable"; Brunton has died of tuberculosis; he recently saw a head had dropped from Temple Bar; he discusses matters relative to the manufacture of the telescope; he revels in the many art sales held at London and recently bought a full-length of a nude tied to a tree by Michelangelo; Miss Reynolds does not approve working on a Sunday, but Sir Joshua never goes to church, he knows no painter who does; could they send some flower roots [bulbs] as they are highly prized in London; the Duke of Cumberland has sat to Sir Joshua; Northcote is working on a half length by Sir Joshua of Mr. Calthrop, provides details of how he will work at this; he has been to see the picture of Charles II by Hogarth at Chelsea; the Academy will close in the summer for six weeks, but he has four tickets for entry during the exhibition.
